Gabi's parents (Susan & Clayton), Uncle Gene & Aunt Cornelia arrived in Manchester, and as usual, we planned an active day. Our first stop was Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire. Fountains Abbey, the remains of a medieval Cistercian monastery, is one of the many outstanding National Trust properties scattered across the United Kingdom. If you would like to read more about Fountains Abbey, see this link from our previous visit. After leaving the Abbey, we traveled a few miles to the quaint town of Ripon where we had a late lunch. The food was fab, however, the weary travelers having full bellies were exhausted, so we decided to call it a day and head home to Hartlepool. After experiencing terrible jet lag ourselves, we try our best to keep our guests moving on the first day so they can quickly adjust to the time zone. We do allow cat naps in the car though!
As usual, there are too many pictures to put on one page so we've made separate pages for the trip.
